Professor Sennett is Professor of Sociology at the London School of Economics and Professor of the Humanities at New York University. His academic work engages with the effects of urban living in the modern world, with a particular focus on the development of cities, the nature of work in modern society and the sociology of culture. Notable publications include The Craftsman and The Culture of the New Capitalism and his latest, Together, which looks at social co-operation in diverse communities. He is currently writing a monograph with the working title Making and Dwelling: The Creation of Open Cities.
