Department of Architecture

On April 9, 2022, the "Spectres of Time in Space: Tracing Phantom Temporalities with Architectural Methodologies" conference was held at the Department of Architecture, organised by Ibrahim Abdou (PhD candidate), Ekaterina Mizrokhi (PhD candidate) and Assistant Professor Nicholas Simcik-Arese.

The event brought together 50 attendees from various international and UK-based universities across a wide range of disciplines. The conference welcomed Professor AbdouMaliq Simone (The University of Sheffield) and Shin Egashira (The Architectural Association) as joint opening keynote speakers, and Dr Iulia Statica (The University of Sheffield) and Dr Tao DuFour (Cornell University) as joint closing keynote speakers whose respective film collaborations were screened later that evening.

An exhibition of visual materials responding to the themes of the conference was also held at the Department, which featured the work of artists, designers, illustrators, architects, and students from around the world. This event was supported by the Department of Architecture's Martin Centre and Churchill College.
