Supervisor: Dr.Darshil Shah

Research overview:

Chuheng’s research explores the integration of mycelium-based biocomposites into hybrid structural systems, aiming to develop innovative low-carbon and biodegradable materials for sustainable architecture. Mycelium biocomposite offers unique properties, including lightweight strength and environmental adaptability, making it a viable alternative to traditional building materials. The goal is to foster a deeper understanding of how bio-composite systems can contribute to resilient and adaptive building practices in the face of global environmental crises.

Biography:

Chuheng Tan is an architect, digital artist, and researcher specializing in sustainable architecture and computational design. She holds Master’s degrees from UCL the Bartlett School and AA School of Architecture. Currently, she is a 1st year PhD student at the University of Cambridge under Dr. Darshil Shah.
