The contribution of higher education to urban development
The lecture will explore the role of universities in the development and regeneration of their host cities, both from a historical and international perspective. Peter Clegg will use recent examples of university masterplanning, urban design and architecture from the work of Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios to discuss the changing role of the University in the City. Looking at the recent work that has been done through research associated with the School of Architecture, he will also provide reflections on the future development of the University of Cambridge within the city and its immediate hinterland.
