Biography

Roger Faires is a practicing Chartered Structural Engineer and a Fellow of the institution of Structural Engineers.

He runs his own consultancy, Kirkwood Structures, where he is mostly found working on timber, retrofit and Passivhous structures. Prior to that he worked on the Cambridge Union Society refurbishment for Mott MacDonald along with the award winning 50/60 Station Road in Cambridge.

A highlight of his career was working on the Harry Potter film sets and designing their home in the visitors tour at Leavesden. His professional work now is moving towards low carbon design and strategic consulting.

 

Roger has been teaching in Part IB (yr2) Principals of Structural Design since 2019 along with studio support and supervisions. For 2022 he is teaching Part II Case Studies where he can convey practical industry experience to the students.
