Biography

A multidisciplinary design and strategy background, I am  the director of an award-winning architecture practice, Donald McCrory, based in East London.  We work across private and public sectors, producing a diverse portfolio of cultural, residential, education, retail, workplace and civic projects. The practice applies a consistent research based collaborative approach, grounded in a concern for the social and environmental sustainability of the built environment. In collaboration and dialogues with local communities and stakeholders.

Schemes range from Stephen Hawking School for children with severe learning difficulties, national design competition winning Royal Society of Ulster Architects Built: East Pavilion, the Oval civic market performance space, Bethnal Green Library and a new public square at the Tower of London.

Alongside my practice work, I am an experienced educator holding positions at UAL: Central Saint Martins, Bartlett and Westminster University.  I have been an invited critic and lecturer at schools of architecture in the UK, mainland Europe and US. Previously Architecture Department Manager  at the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, I am a Design Advisor to the Greater London Authority, ARB Accreditation and Hackney Design Review Panels.
