The department congratulates Assistant Professor and Deputy Director (Centre for Human-Inspired AI) Dr Ramit Debnath on the publication of a new research in Atmospheric Environment: X journal that reveals strong links between heating demand and increased air pollution levels in Norwegian Cities. This collaborative project with Caltech, USA, uses state-of-the-art machine learning techniques and draws on a 10 years’ (2009–2018) worth of daily data on traffic, weather, and air pollution from three major cities in Norway. This research provides valuable insights into the seasonal dynamics of air pollution and offers a robust data-driven framework to help policymakers develop more effective and integrated urban climate and air quality policies.
