The winners of the AJ student prize were announced at the offices of Sheppard Robson architects on 7 October. We are delighted that MAUD student Yousuf Khalili won the postgraduate category for his project, Urban Canopies which envisaged a series of interventions for Pakistan’s railway communities in Lahore to facilitate a revival of ‘state-sanctioned’ slums.
The judges described his ‘stunning, temple-like’ project as ‘iconic in its approach’ and leaving them ‘wanting to see more’.
They said the student ‘had not taken a single wrong move’ and designated it ‘incredibly memorable’ in how ‘so well considered’ it was.
In September the AJ posted both our entries that can be seen here.
