Julia Barfield (Founding director of Marks Barfield Architects (MBA) and part of the team behind the design and realisation of the London Eye)

Julia Barfield will talk about the ideas, design process and construction stories behind some of Marks Barfield Architects’ diverse and bespoke projects, such as the Kew Treetop Walkway at Kew Gardens and the recently completed University of Cambridge Primary School, the UK’s first green Mosque in Cambridge – just started on site and a public realm improvement project in Clapham Old Town.

She will explain what led MBA to become the architect-entrepreneurs behind the London Eye and Brighton’s new vertical pier, the i360, as well as other less well known self-generated projects.

Julia will also tell her story from student to private practice and some of her personal experience of the changing role of the architect.
