Department of Architecture

In June 1921, Cambridge University formally established an Examination in Architecture for the BA degree, with the first examinations happening the following year in 1922. One hundred years on, we are inviting alumni of the Department to join us to Celebrate 100 Years of Architecture.

In preparing to celebrate this occasion with our alumni, we realised that no student exhibition catalogues were produced before 1983. We therefore encourage you, as alumni, to send pictures of your work, a short description of your project and all your memories of the teachers and students from your time at Cambridge so that we may create an archive of student work through the ages. Your collaboration in this project would be much appreciated.

On 9 July, representatives will present a retrospective from each decade, charting 100 years of architectural teaching, research, work and memories. If you have received an invitation, and wish to nominate yourself as a student representative, please follow the steps on the online form to do. If you are an alumni but have not yet received an invitation, please contact faculty.manager@aha.cam.ac.uk for further information. Please send your student work electronically to marisa.grove@aha.cam.ac.uk

Following the centenary event, the Faculty Library will manage these archives for future reference and research.
