Architecture of Independence’ explores the experimental and futuristic architecture produced in 1960s Central and Sub-Saharan Africa during the region’s period of newfound independence.

The exhibition coincides with the publication of a 700 page book, ‘AFRICAN MODERNISM The Architecture of Independence. Ghana, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Kenya, Zambia’ - edited by Manuel Herz, Ingrid Schröder, Hans Focketyn and Julia Jamrozik. Photographs by Iwan Baan and Alexia Webster.

Dezeen Magazine has listed the exhibition as one of the 10 architecture and design exhibitions they are looking forward to in 2015. The Guardian has also covered the exhibition in an article entitled The forgotten masterpieces of African modernism.
