Ed Barsley releases the Retrofitting Resilience Soundscape & Installation

During a 'Multi-Sensory Design' conference at Central Saint Martins last week, Ed Barsley (from the CURBE and BBP Groups in the department) gave the first viewing of a new short film on flood risk he’s created. The film communicates the consequences of two contrasting flood risk scenario’s, existing and adapted conditions, through the medium of a soundscape timeline. The film can be found here: https://youtu.be/LBhYoFbgJcE

An interactive installation of this work was also tested at the conference (see images). Within this multi-sensory approach to engagement, people were encouraged to put on headphones, step in a paddling pool and listen to each of the two flood soundscape at their own pace.
