Department of Architecture collaboration instrumental in securing part of a £5.6 billion trade deal with China

The collaboration between MIT, UBC and Cambridge Architectural Research and the Department of Architecture will contribute to the knowledge base and use of engineered bamboo.

Structural Bamboo Products (SBP) will have lower operating energy use and so emit lower levels of carbon throughout their life cycles. The SBP and codes the Cambridge team develops will be a viable alternative to steel and concrete members, with a global outlook for sustainability.
