On Friday, July 17, the Department of Architecture hosted an international conference on the theme of Situated Imagination and Imaginaries of Urban Futures. Organised the SIITE research group at the Department, under the leadership of Nicholas Frayne, Ruaa Yagkhmour and Dr. Irit Katz, the conference brought together scholars, practitioners, and researchers from across the world and across disciplines — 29 presenters spoke on research in 17 countries; a further 36 posters were displayed in the Gallery; and over 250 participants attended across 7 time zones!
The conversations moved from how imagination becomes material, to who gets to imagine and whose vision actually gets built, to the tools we imagine with, and more. Funded by Christ’s College, this exciting event set the foundation for new research across the social sciences and humanities, and we look forward to continuing the conversation.
