Scroope, the Cambridge University architecture journal, invites abstract submissions for its 35th edition, themed Scaffold.
Scaffold is understood here as condition: provisional, adaptive, and generative. This edition seeks contributions that engage with scaffolding as material, method, and metaphor. A work that interrogates structures of support, temporality, and incompleteness across architecture, urbanism, history, theory, and allied disciplines.
We welcome submissions that ask: What does it mean to build provisionally? How do temporary structures encode relations of power, care, or displacement? Where does maintenance end and making begin?
Abstracts of 200–300 words are invited from researchers, practitioners, and students. Please indicate your anticipated format and length.
Deadline: 30 April 2026, 23:59 GMT
