On 9 December, Professor Minna Sunikka-Blank and Dr Irit Katz, together with Dr Nkatha Gichyua and Musau Kimeu from the University of Nairobi, hosted a policy workshop on Urban Rental Housing and Climate Resilience. The event had contributions from UN-Habitat and the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK), bringing together key stakeholders to discuss strategies for sustainable and inclusive urban housing.

The project is funded by the MasterCard Foundation and Cambridge-Africa, and we are excited to collaborate with a team of 16 research assistants from leading Kenyan institutions: University of Nairobi (UoN), Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT)Kenyatta University (KU), and Technical University of Kenya (TUK).

This initiative aims to strengthen policy dialogue and research on affordable rental housing models and enhanced climate resilience in rapidly urbanising contexts.
