John Nguyen completed his MPhil in Urban Studies in 2025. His dissertation explored the integration of acoustic metamaterials (AMMs) into architectural design, with the aim of transforming traditional open-plan workplace environments into acoustically optimised, multi-zoned spaces. His research positioned AMMs as pivotal design elements, capable of redefining spatial boundaries through precise sound modulation and control. John carried out this work as a member of the Sustainable Design Group (link this text to the webpage), under the supervision of Professor Ronita Bardhan.
