Dr Matteo Zallio has contributed a new chapter to the recently published book Ergonomics 5.0 (CRC Press / Routledge).
The chapter, Inclusive Design in Ergonomics 5.0 for an Enhanced Workplace Experience, explores how inclusive and neuroinclusive design principles can be embedded into contemporary ergonomic practice to create more equitable, responsive, and high‑performing workplace environments. Moving beyond traditional accommodation‑based approaches, the chapter highlights predictive, data‑informed strategies that proactively address the needs of people with diverse abilities, backgrounds, and characteristics.
Drawing on emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital twins, and adaptive interfaces, the chapter discusses how workplaces can be designed to respond more effectively to user needs while delivering broader organisational and business benefits. Practical frameworks illustrate how inclusive ergonomic solutions can be implemented across different work contexts, leading to measurable improvements in accessibility, user experience, and overall system performance.
The book was published in 2026 as part of CRC Press’s Ergonomics series.
