The Inclusive Design Canvas, developed through years of research at the University of Cambridge, was recently showcased at the Davos Neurodiversity Summit, held alongside the World Economic Forum. The tool was presented as a practical, evidence-based framework for translating inclusive values into concrete design action.
Matteo Zallio led a hands-on workshop at the summit together with Kay Sargent (HOK). The session demonstrated how lived experience and neurodivergent perspectives can actively inform and shape design decisions, moving inclusion beyond aspiration and into practice.
The workshop took place at a particularly timely moment during the World Economic Forum, where Cambridge Vice-Chancellor Professor Deborah Prentice spoke about rebuilding trust in science—not simply by opening doors, but by actively inviting people in.
Despite the intensity and scale of Davos, the summit created space for focused conversations on designing systems and environments that are more humane, inclusive, and participatory.
