The Department of Architecture is delighted to announce that Professor Ronita Bardhan has been appointed Co-Director of Cambridge Zero, the University of Cambridge’s flagship climate initiative. She takes up the role alongside Professor Sam Stranks of the Department of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology.
Professor Bardhan is Professor of Sustainable Built Environment and Health in the Department of Architecture. Her interdisciplinary research sits at the intersection of climate change, the built environment and public health, examining how the places where people live, work and move shape exposure to climate risks, health and wellbeing. Her work brings together engineering, environmental and data sciences, public health and social science to develop healthier, more equitable and climate-resilient approaches to the built environment.
As Co-Director, Professor Bardhan will contribute to the strategic leadership of Cambridge Zero, working across disciplines and with partners within and beyond the University. Cambridge Zero brings together research, education, innovation and policy to advance the University’s mission to accelerate action on the climate crisis at the highest international levels of excellence.
The Department warmly congratulates Professor Bardhan on her appointment and looks forward to her contribution to the next chapter of Cambridge Zero.
