Abstract
What does it mean to ‘look into’ the sixth mass extinction and the unravelling of earthly life in cities? Drawing on insights from the urban and environmental humanities, this talk explores some of the ways in which species extinctions are entangled in city life and how thinking with these entanglements and imaginaries (within and beyond the city) might inform urban political ecology, planning and design.
Speaker Bio
Donna’s research is concerned with the participatory and regenerative planning and design of equitable, climate-adaptive, multispecies cities and regions as a key response to the climate and biodiversity crises. She is an Associate Professor and Discipline Chair of Geography and Planning in the Macquarie School of Social Sciences at Macquarie University in Sydney. Donna is a Co-Director of the Environmental Humanities Research Stream at Macquarie University and a founding member of the Shadow Places Network.
