The MSt in Architecture offers a three-year, part-time route towards qualifying as an architect. The course has been run as the Part 2 ARB-prescribed apprenticeship but has now changed into a three-year part time degree. The current course will transition into the ARB’s new system and by the time of graduation, students will have achieved the Academic Outcomes.
The University of Cambridge and The King’s Foundation have joined forces to offer a unique Master’s course in Architecture that is part of the route to ARB professional accreditation. The course is based on sustainable technologies but also allows students who are committed to traditional architecture and urban design to join a specialist stream on this 3-year, part-time postgraduate programme and provides a rigorous and immersive route into the profession while accommodating the needs of those already working in practice.
For supervisions, you’re able to choose a ‘stream’ to specialise in: sustainable or traditional design.
Students who have worked in practice throughout the programme could then proceed to a separate Practice Outcomes assessment. Successful completion of this will enable them to register as an architect in the UK. More details will become available as the ARB publishes them.
This course will start on 7 September 2026 and successful students will have complete the Academic Outcomes by the end of September 2029.
The course takes the form of three fortnight-long residential sessions each year: one in September, one in December and one around Easter.
