<H3><BR>CONFERENCE OBJECTIVE</H3>
<P>This 17<SUP><SMALL>th</SMALL></SUP> PLEA international conference addresses sustainable design with regard to
<STRONG>architecture</STRONG>, <STRONG>city</STRONG> and <STRONG>environment</STRONG> at the turn of the millennium.
The central aim of the conference is to explore the interrelationships and integration of <STRONG>architecture</STRONG>,
<STRONG>city</STRONG> and <STRONG>environment</STRONG>. The location of the conference in the centre of the historic
yet progressive University City of Cambridge provides an ideal setting for the conference theme.
<P>The PLEA2000 Conference promises to be an exciting and fullfilling event with over 200 presentations from around
the world. Oral and poster presentations, listed alphabetically by author and with titles,
are presented in the <A HREF="papers.html">papers</A> section.
<P>The conference proceedings will be published by <B>James + James
(Science) Publishers Limited, London</B>, in advance of the conference.

in architecture and planning.
<P><STRONG>PLEA</STRONG> is an autonomous, non-profit association of individuals sharing expertise in the arts, sciences,
planning and design of the built environment.
<P><STRONG>PLEA</STRONG> is committed to lend its support to help solve architectural and planning problems wherever its
expertise may be appropriate.
<P><STRONG>PLEA</STRONG> is open to interaction with institutions dealing with the problems of housing and the built
environment and to all professionals sharing the ideas expressed above.
<P><STRONG>PLEA</STRONG> pursues its objectives through conferences and workshops; expert group meetings and consultancies;
scientific and technical publications; architectural competitions and exhibitions.
