The Department warmly congratulates Dr Michal Gath-Morad, Assistant Professor in Architecture and Spatial Cognition, on being awarded a Humboldt Research Fellowship (2026–2028) through the Henriette Herz Scouting Programme.
Hosted by Prof. Klaus Gramann at the Berlin Mobile Brain/Body Imaging Lab (BeMoBIL), TU Berlin, Dr Gath-Morad will co-lead NEUROCOR: Spatial Neurofeedback in Transitional Care Spaces, a research project that explores how real-time brain and physiological data (EEG, HRV, EDA) can shape the design of hospital environments to better support patients' cognitive and emotional wellbeing.
The project will prototype a responsive hospital corridor that adjusts lighting, acoustics, and spatial enclosure in response to neural and affective states, using advanced Mobile Brain/Body Imaging techniques and multimodal sensing.
By joining forces between her Cambridge research group and Prof. Gramann’s lab in Berlin, this collaboration will open new avenues in neuroarchitecture, combining architectural design, cognitive neuroscience, and healthcare innovation. The project also strengthens ties between the University of Cambridge and TU Berlin and supports the development of open-source tools and interdisciplinary training pathways for future researchers.
