The AGM and the Fifth Annual Conference of Construction History Society will be held in Queens’ College, Cambridge on 6, 7  and 8 April 2018 with the AGM on Saturday 7 April and tours of buildings on Sunday 8 April and an annual lecture and dinner on the Saturday night.

This year the First Day (Friday 6 April)  will be devoted to papers on the History of Building Services and held in collaboration with Kent School of Architecture,  CIBSE and the Department of Architecture in Cambridge, with a keynote lecturer by Professor Dean Hawkes.

The Second Day (Saturday 7 April) will include general papers on the History of Building Construction. The AGM will be accompanied by an exhibition of previously unseen drawings and a discussion of the work of Cecil Hewett who died 20 years ago this year. Hewett is famous for his many books on the history of English structural carpentry and remains a interesting and controversial figure. There will be a Gala Dinner in the evening after the Building History Annual Lecture and a visit is being organised for those interested on Sunday (details to be announced).

Registration includes a printed copy of the proceedings which will be available at the conference.
